Best Wordpress Plugins - By far

halo-wordpress Best Wordpress Plugins - By far

So here is where the main title score piece of 2001: A Space Odyssey starts playing. Never before have you seen anything like this. The Best Wordpress Plugins ever available right here at Internet Marketing SA. You will bookmark this page and tell all your friends about it. In fact, you’ll be thinking of shooting a 5 minute homage and upload it to Youtube, all about this incredible post. Nothing else will matter, except that you will eat, sleep and breathe this post.

Ok, I still can’t decide whether that was slightly sarcastic or just plain amusing (maybe just to me Rolling on the floor). Of course, assuming that you know all about the Wordpress revolution, you and I know there are many, many great plugins for Wordpress out there. What I’ll be sharing with you today, are some of the best Wordpress Plugins that we use here at IMSA (It’s an acronym, short for Internet Marketing South Africa, pronounced “hmmm-sa” Rolling on the floor) . By the way. all these plugins are absolutely free and in fact, most free Wordpress plugins are superior in quality to their premium counter parts. I know, I wasted a lot unnecessary dollars on so-called brilliant plugins.

So here goes:

Akismet

Akismet filters out link spam from your comments and does a pretty darn good job of it. By the way, Akismet is included with all Wordpress builds since version 2.0. Make sure it’s activated. Also, you’ll need a Wordpress.com API key, which means you need to sign up as a user at Wordpress.com.

What would Seth Godin do?

Yep, that is the name of the plugin and nope, I don’t think you get WWSGD wrist bands. WWSGD does a great service to your blog.It displays a custom text message to new visitors and it is a great way to remind visitors to signup for your free newsletter, RSS feed, etc. It’s a great, light-weight plugin.

Flickr Manager

Flickr

Flickr of course, is the mega hit site which focuses online socialising methodologies around personal pictures. There are millions upon millions upon millions pictures on Flickr, and a great deal of them are available for personal use. This is where the Flickr Manager comes in handy. It lets you view Flickr images from within your post settings and insert a picture in your post. Great help. A 1000 word post with a picture says 2000 words.

Page Link  Manager

Wordpress by default will add links to your menu bar at the top when you create a new page. For the page not to display it has to be marked as private. The problem with this is that a visitor on your site has to be logged in to view the private page. In our case we need the flexibility of not having the page display as a link, and still be public. For example, our ‘Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter’ is a point in fact. You don’t need to be subscribed to the blog to subscribe to the newsletter, and yet, we need you to see the thank you page. In this case it will not make sense to have the thank you page as a link at the top of the blog. Page Link Manager adds a check box to your page settings, so you can decide whether you want to show it as a link or not. Really quite useful.

Redirection

Redirection is one of those plugins which I found to work better that a similar plugin I paid for. The way we use Redirection is to ‘cloak’ or hide affiliate links. So if a link would be something like http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=608724533&ref=ts#/home.php?ref=home it can be ‘cloaked’ to look like http://internetmarketingsa.co.za/Facebook

PodPress

Podpress is an excellent plugin for creating podcasting on your blog. It handles various formats and has some real cool settings like enabling a download feature. You can view a video using this plugin right here.

Executable PHP Widget

AS the name suggests, this a widget in which you can add any PHP code. Becomes very handy when you need some extra intelligence programmed in your sidebar.

WP Super Cache

Here is the write-up about this plugin from the download page: “This plugin generates static html files from your dynamic WordPress blog. After a html file is generated your webserver will serve that file instead of processing the comparatively heavier and more expensive WordPress PHP scripts.” Basically it makes your web site faster. Google will like you for it.

WP-o-Matic

Automatically syndicates multiple RSS feeds and saves them as separate blog posts. You have the option of saving them as drafts instead of immediately publishing them. This is great when you want to blog on a great post you found on the blogosphere. Of course, you are not going to use the post exactly as it was syndicated as that would be rude, unethical, unprofessional and a few other words as well. You have been warned.

That’s it, the most amazing, brilliant, best Wordpress plugins ever. I hope you can use it. Cheers.
