Today I am not going to be writing my own post but rather share one with you that I found really useful and I think that you would to. Some time ago I did some research about social bookmarking sites and how valuable their backlinks to your site are. The reason fir this is that I have been using quite a few social bookmarking sites at that stage and noticed that a lot of them provided nofollow links back to your site.
So as I was searching I came across a very interesting post. This guy did a test on +-250 social bookmarking sites to see which ones are actually worth getting backlinks from.
So this is how the guy did his criteria when he tested all of the social bookmarking sites: Continued

Search Engine Marketing is all about exposure. The more exposure you can get, the more people know about you, and potentially the more sales you make. In the Internet dimension back linking plays a major role in obtaining exposure.
There are various back linking strategies available and depending how you approach each of them could determine the overall outcome. My personal approach would be to do thorough keyword research to increase search engine ranking, but also keep in mind that the links I am building can send me significant traffic regardless of the fact whether I would rank in Google or not. In light of all of the above I am going to share 5 top search engine placement strategies which, if done consistently will bear beautiful and juicy fruit.

You may have come across the discussion where people are talking about manipulating the page rank in their site. Well, maybe this is the first time you hear about it. It is not a new term in the online world anymore but is still an very effective way of telling Google which pages on your site should get more attention and will definitely help you in your rankings as well.
How does page rank work
PageRank uses the Internet’s link structure as an indication of each Web page’s relevancy value.
To give you an example of how page rank work within a site: Imagine, you build a pyramid of buckets and all the buckets in the pyramid have little holes in it. Now if you keep filling the buckets with water then the water will flow through the pyramid to the other buckets, which means that there is less water in the main bucket. Now, imagine the buckets are the pages within your site (including the pages where all your links point to as well), the holes are the links and the page rank is the water.

As I have stated earlier in my post “So what is Internet Marketing anyway?”, the Internet is like any other business platform out there in lots of respects. In other respects it is completely different. No assumptions must be made and your market research is what it is all about. Some products which sell brilliantly in a normal brick-and-mortar environment, might not sell at all on the Internet. Others might do better. I say again, no assumptions should be made. InternetMarketingSA will teach you how to do your market research properly.
South Africans in general are very skeptical when it comes to new business concepts. I don’t blame them with all the weird and wonderful schemes and scams they’ve been dealt. The problem is that skepticism is not forgiving. It always seems to see the glass half-empty, regardless of the fact that it is filled to the brim. Take multi-level marketing as an example. Even though I myself am not the type (and yes all you MLM’s out there, some of us aren’t the type, and yes there ARE other great ways of making money:)) I personally feel that MLM is one of the most brilliant concepts ever. However, if you are one of those completely and utterly irritated just by the whole concept of it all, then I have good news for you. Internet Marketing has got nothing to do with Multi Level Marketing. It could have something to do with it and some network marketers do use the Internet as a business vehicle, but that has nothing to do with the overall concept of Internet Marketing.
